An ode to Steve Jobs
Today Jobs resigned from his CEO position at Apple. He wasn’t fired like in ‘84, nor departed the company because of boredom like Bill Gates did. Nobody wanted him to leave his position; neither did he. But, while Apple is stronger than ever, its founder can’t run the company anymore.
Just as a parent feels when his child leaves the parental home—pride, a little concern and hope—so did Jobs with Apple. And make no mistake, Apple is Job’s child. He did everything he could to make Apple mature enough to stand in its own feet. I believe he did a good job.
Technology was defined and redefined by Apple again and again. The music industry, the movie industry, the software industry, the internet as a hole would look a lot different if not for the clear leadership of Mr. Jobs. The world that has spawn from Cupertino, California puts food on my table, it is the source of most of my entertainment, it keeps me connected with my friends. None of this would be possible without the pioneering work Apple did.
Thank you Mr. Jobs for kick starting the 3rd millennium.
