Tweetbot

The principle is in your mind. You know it but since it seems counterintuitive, you forget. We fear our lack of originality and we stop executing. Originality is overrated and I was reminded of that by a small iPhone app.

In a saturated market like the iPhone twitter client category, fear tells you that there is not enough incentive to participate. After four plus years since the first Twitter client appeared on the iPhone we saw innovation stagnating. It was boring because we couldn’t see an original idea that can disrupt de market.

Enter Tweetbot. Launched last week, it blows the Twitter official app out of the water. It costs $1.99, hard to compete with free but worth every cent. In a matured, standardized market, this is an example of going above and beyond. It has something that others don’t: personality.

It’s not about the idea, it’s about the execution. Thank you Tapbots team for not letting me forget that.
